I spun myself dizzy SO many times trying to be her! And come on, Lynda Carter even has a Y in her name! Recently, the lovely Washington-area resident (betcha didn't know she lives in DC!) did an interview with Philadelphia magazine, where they asked her about people comparing Sarah Palin to Wonder Woman. Have you seen the "Boom dee-ah-dah" commercials for Discovery? Here's a stage version, with Mike Rowe, Bear Grylls, Ben Bailey and the Deadliest Catch captains (yay!)... and another guy I don't recognize (with good hair). Update: I have now been educated. The guy with the good hair is Josh Bernstein, formerly of the History Channel's "Digging for the Truth." He's moved over to Discovery, but I don't think his new show has started yet. Yes, he's a nice Jewish boy, but apparently he's looking for a "tall blond Jewish girl who is interested in the environment." As Eliz. says, we'll have to figure out how to make me taller. The hair dying is easy! Of course, I also have no urge to live in a yurt in Utah, so that might be a challenge. ;)

Curses! Apparently my favorite Food Network chef, Robert Irvine of Dinner:Impossible , has LIED about his credentials ! He hasn't cooked for Presidents, or for the Royals at Buckingham... he just made that up. That's so sad. He's so much fun to watch, ordering people around, and making incredible dishes out of the most ridiculous ingredients, in no time at all. It doesn't hurt that he's built like a Mack truck (though I never like that sort of thing in person) , and I'm probably a bit partial to the British accent. Damn. Paula Deen is going to be heartbroken. The two of them formed a cute (and sometimes, dare I say, raunchy) little friendship there for a while. Ah well. I'll have to make do with Duff and the crew at Charm City Cakes. :)

(Sorry, it's turning into politics-all-the-time around here, huh?) We all know that Dubya's last SOTU [hurrah!] was all about framing his legacy. [HA! What legacy? ahem. sorry.] Here's a nice post at 23/6 about his lame duck status and what he will try to take credit for in the coming years: ... he'll dedicate his last year in office to ending the unpopular war he started and turning around the economic recession that happened on his watch. He also laid the groundwork for taking all the credit should the next administration manage to balance the budget his administration unbalanced. But I think my favorite part of this post has to be the graphic, mostly because it expresses the clear superiority of my favorite (faux) Democratic President, Jed Bartlet. :)

I think my DVR is my favorite piece of technology (this week). I couldn't help traveling during premiere week, so I set the machine to record my faves, as well as a few new ones that seemed interesting. (although I realized on Friday night that I forgot to record the season premiere of Numb3rs! Drat!) Here's my take so far: (spoilers! fair warning!) CSI season opener - Wow. They found Sara right at the end of the hour. There are still rumors about Jorja Fox leaving the show, but in the meantime, they showed how the crazy chick kidnapped her, and how Sara got out from under the car and wandered in the desert. And Nick was the one who found her, which I thought fitting. Journeyman - We ( Dan i and I) were sort of hoping that it would be like Quantum Leap (oh that Scott Bakula ... ), but it was *a lot* more confusing, and there were multiple jumps back and forth from current time to the 80's (and the 90's). I don't normally go out of my way to see a celebrity. (although I was very jealous that Dani saw Bobby and Jamie Deen last year ) But I just looooove Ace of Cakes . Duff is a nice Jewish boy, after all. ;) Duff is the chef/owner of Charm City Cakes in Baltimore. They do cakes for all kinds of events, from weddings to the Superbowl to housewarmings and everything in between. They did a Taj Mahal cake for a wedding last year that was amazing. Apparently they just did the cake for the Harry Potter movie premiere in Hollywood... they did a 4ft x 5ft model of Hogwart's! and then had to drive it to LA in a Winnebago. Apparently there will be an episode about it later this year. So for the demonstration at the mall today, he finished decorating a guitar. by painting the wood-stain on the top. The bottom half of it is for support, but the top half is cake. He went to a music store and bought the guitar neck and strings and put them on -- and played it! He tuned the guitar, and took out...

Why can't people just change the channel if there's something they don't like on tv? The FCC, in yet another maneuver to control EVERYTHING we see and hear, has recommended to Congress that the government be allowed to regulate television violence -- even on PAY CABLE channels! According to the WaPo : The report -- commissioned by members of Congress in 2004 and based on hundreds of comments from parents, industry officials, academic experts and others -- concludes that Congress has the authority to regulate "excessive violence" and to extend its reach for the first time into basic-cable TV channels that consumers pay to receive. Seriously? Almost every television these days comes with a little thing called a remote. If you don't like what's on, you don't have to watch it! It's called free will! I realized today that I have been taking pics but not uploading them, so here's the rundown. It's nothing terribly exciting. Two weeks ago when it was really cold around here, I broke out my new hot cocoa. I bought the "marshmallow lovers" low-fat Swiss Miss. Let me tell you, they aren't kidding when they say marshmallow lovers. Each serving is two packets - one is the hot cocoa powder, and the other is all mini-marshmallows ! I had to take a picture. It was soooooooo yummy. For the past week, my tv has been slowly dying (in fact, as mom reminded me, it was already starting to go south when she was here two months ago!) . I've had that set for ten years - it survived moving from Arlington to Chevy Chase and back to Arlington, and then to Austin. I know you don't really need to hear more about the desk-building experience , but there is more to tell! I will take this opportunity to point out the ups and downs of the fun I've been having with Office Depot. Good customer service: I used the OD website on Weds to submit a complaint about the desk. I just could not believe that the damn thing was so poorly made. (serves me right for getting the OD "brand," I suppose.) I received an email within a few hours that said that they would exchange my desk for a new one -- the next day! Yippeee! Bad customer service: You must wait patiently at the delivery location, for they will arrive any time between 8:30am and 5:30pm. Right, because I didn't have anything else to do yesterday! We won't even go into the notion of having them call first, because clearly that didn't work last week. But they can't even provide a 3-hour window, like the cable guy?
